THE FIRST FLIGHT
Every legend of the League starts somewhere. This is how Shadow – the dark storm dragon on our logo – first opened its eyes to the sky arena.

Nobody knew who had left it there. Only a dark shape on a distant rock seemed to watch over it, silent through every storm. For many nights lightning struck around the egg, and each time thin violet cracks glowed a little brighter across its shell, as if something inside was drinking the storm.

Two round white eyes blinked in the dark. A tiny dragon pushed its head out of the shell – charcoal scales, purple markings, and those eyes, glowing like small moons. It sneezed, shook off the last pieces of shell, and looked up.

Thousands of golden orbs drifted through the air like warm fireflies. Far away, enormous dragons glided between them – one blazing orange, one made of ice – their long bodies curving through the clouds. The little dragon did not know their names yet. It only knew that it wanted to fly with them.

It wobbled, dipped, nearly fell back onto the rocks – and then the air caught it. A golden orb floated right in front of its nose. It swallowed it in one gulp. Warmth ran down its whole body, and it felt itself grow, just a little. Every dragon in the League remembers its first orb.

A shadow fell over it. The huge orange dragon had turned, and a dashed line of light now stretched from its jaws straight toward the newcomer. The air began to hum. The little dragon did not think – it twisted sideways, out of the line, a heartbeat before a wave of fire tore through the space where it had been. Lesson one of the League: always watch the line.
As the sun went down, the young dragon saw something on the horizon: a dragon larger than all the others, and above its head, a crown of pure golden light. Every dragon in the sky was circling it, watching it, waiting. The little dragon with the storm in its eyes watched too. One day, it thought. One day.
